This book is a companion to the first book in the series, The Historical Roots of the ANC. Like Volume I, it too provides a selection of important documents and extracts which have influenced the thinking of the ANC. Included in this book are classic texts by influential African and international thinkers and statesmen like Karl Marx, Kwame Nkrumah, Frantz Fanon and Julius Nyerere.

This series of books, published by Jacana on behalf of the ANC Parliamentary Political Education Committee, sets out to provide short but informative introductions to ANC history, politics and policy written by leading thinkers within the ANC. Based on a series of lectures given at Parliament to ANC members, the series is intended to provide not only members and supporters of the ANC but the wider public with assessments of ANC thinking on policy and politics and to stimulate wider debate and discussion on leading issues of the day.
