The Masai Mara is, quite simply, one of the greatest wildlife experiences in the world. Where else can the visitor experience two million migrating animals passing through each year on their never-ending search for food and water? But strangely, until now, there has been no proper map of the Mara available to tourists. Maps have been on sale, but all are inaccurate, out-of-date or made with limited or no Global Positioning System (GPS) survey. The new Mara Map has been surveyed using Landsat 7 satellite imagery and GPS survey to fix roads, tracks and other features accurately. The cartographic expertise of Harvey Maps has been used to produce the final version.
This Visitor Map Guide includes features on the Ecozones, the Migrations and on the Masai designed to give you an experience exceeding that of simply "game-spotting". Similarly the graphics and text on species, especially predators, are included to make your visit to the Mara much more informed. It also includes maps of the Mara Triangle, the Mara River & Central Plains and the Mara & Ngama Hills.
If you are travelling independently, we hope the travel and accommodation information is helpful. However you use the Visitor Map Guide, it will make a memorable souvenir of your trip of a lifetime. Ideally, to get the most out of your visit, spend time using the Map Guide before you arrive, or before your first game-drive. Find out where you are, and where you are going, as well as something about the background of this amazing place.
